Rs. 1.2b. boost for Colombo Port The Sri Lanka Ports Authority is targeting Rs. 13 billion additional
annual income by attracting huge main liners from next year, once the
deepening of the port basin and the main channel is completed within a
period of five months. PA takes strong exception The People's Alliance has taken strong exception to a statement made by
the leader of the Election Observer Mission of the European Union that EU
was "deeply disappointed" at the failure of the PA Government to
implement the EU Election Mission's recommendations following the last
General Elections held in October 2000. Rs. 9b. private hospital projects by Bharatha Malawaraarachchi Negotiations are under way for ten more BOI approved private hospitals
in Colombo and its outskirts bringing the total number of private
hospitals commissioned and to be commissioned soon to seventeen at an
overall cost of nearly Rs. 9 billion. The investments are both local and
