News Business Features Editorial Security Politics World Letters Sports Obituaries | Election violence PA supporters attacked A group of supporters of UNP Nuwara Eliya candidate Saliya Dissanayake is alleged to have set upon a group of supporters of the PA candidate Jayaratne Dissanayake near a filling station at Rikillagaskada on the morning of November 21, a press release issued by the PA Co-ordinating Unit states. The assailants who accosted the two PA vehicles that were stationary near the filling station for refuelling, damaged them and assaulted the PA supporters including one of the drivers all of whom were admitted to the Rikillagaskada Base Hospital for treatment. According to information sources,the UNP gang was led by Saliya Dissanayake, a brother of former Minister S.B. Dissanayake and another gangster called Nishantha both of whom carried firearms and the key of one of the vehicles is said to have been removed away by Saliya Dissanayake, after the assault.
