Urban and rural businessmen in doldrums - Mahinda Samarasinghe

Kalutara District leader Mahinda Samarasinghe said that the urban and rural businessmen in the country were in doldrums and faced a difficulties during the past seven years.

They couldn't even repay their bank loans they took to develop their business.

He was speaking at election propaganda meetings held to canvass support for the United National Front and his candidature on Friday.

"When the UNF formed the Government a speical development scheme would be introduced to Kalutara District to uplift the living conditions of the people.

"The Rubber and Tea plantation workers face a great difficulties in earning their livelihood as rubber and tea prices have gone down. Thousands of employees in the Tourist trade in the Kalutara District have also lost employment."
