Dissidents are convicted before the People's Court - Baddegama Samitha Thera

by Kahawa special correspondent

Galle District PA candidate Ven. Baddegama Samitha Thera told the 'Daily News' that "those crossed over to the Opposition from the Government on personal gains have already been convicted before the people's court.

It was late Prime Minister S. W. R. D. Bandaranaike who crossed over to the Opposition for the first time in the history of independent Sri Lanka and all major powers, Sangha, Veda, Guru, Govi-Kamkaru rallied round him for the benefit of the country and late Lalith Athulathmudali and Gamini Dissanayake left the UNP at a later stage also could gather masses around them because all those crossovers were not based on personal gains but the crossovers followed with S. B. Dissanayake were all on narrow and personal gains," the thera said.

December 5 election is decisive. It will decide whether we like democracy or not," the thera said.

The PA Government mandated by the people for six years since 2000 was made ineffective by forces such as racketeers and cronies and people should know about them, the thera concluded.
