Addressing an election rally in Yatiyantota Thondaman said although they were a separate entity in terms of the MoU signed with the UNP they has given the UNP leader Ranil Wickremesinghe a free hand since they trusted him to paly fair by the Minorities. He noted that the government was blaming the Minorities for toppling the administration, but this was a weak argument since everyone knows it collapsed due to poor governance. "The captain should be incharge of the ship, if not it will sink" he said. Observing that the government was making accusations of an UNP-LTTE link Thondaman asked what is wrong with talks being held and described Ranil Wickremesinghe as a brave leader for his stand of a negotiated settlement of the ethnic problem. He said it was the CWC which obtained all benefits to the estate community. |
