Hanguranketha residents rebuff dissidents A group of supporters led by PA dissident S.B.Dissanayake's brother Saliya Dissanayake yesterday laid road blocks to prevent people from attending the PA's election rally in Hanguranketha, police said. The saboteurs were crestfallen as people dared to get off from their buses and walk to the meeting held at the Poramadulla Central College grounds, a participant told the Daily News. Some planks fastened with nails were laid randomly throughout the roads leading to the meeting ground in order to avert participants reaching there in numbers. But enthusiastic party supporters and residents in the area condemned these acts. Saliya Dissanayake and several other suspects were arrested in this connection and
released later on bail, police said. |
