Election related incidents rise to 975 The number of election related incidents and complaints rose to 975 yesterday, the Police Election Secretariat said. Of these, 484 were by the UNP, 307 by the PA, 48 by the JVP, 28 by the SLMC, one by the Sihala Urumaya and other parties including Independent groups made 149 complaints. Director of the Police Election Secretariat Senior SP T.J. Miskin told the "Daily News" yesterday that several major incidents had been reported in Chilaw, Anuradhapura, Anamaduwa and Gampaha Police areas. Head of the PES has directed all officers in charge of Police stations to use road blocks in order to check vehicles carrying weapons during the nomination and election period. He also directed them to have mobile and foot patrols round-the- clock as a preventive
