Passenger ferry service to Chennai, Mumbai A passenger ferry service will be inaugurated initially between Colombo and Chennai and Mumbai with the prospect of it being extended to Dubai, Minister of Ports, Shipping and Fisheries Mahinda Rajapakse told the 'Daily News' yesterday. On a directive of the Minister, negotiations have also been commenced between the Ministry Secretary and the Indian High Commission in Colombo, the Ministry sources said. The feasibility studies of the Ceylon Shipping Corporation have also revealed that a potential service between the ports of Colombo and Tuticorin has proved to be feasible and could be implemented if it has the sanctions of both Governments. |
