This is but an adaptation and not a direct translation of the popular song "Ai Bamaro pem mala athahara da?", sung by the late Mohideen Baig. The lyric was written by late Karunaratne Abeysekera and the melody was composed by late Mohammed Sali.

Oh! Bee why do you abandon your beloved flower?
And go in search of another flower in the bower?
Oh! Bee how can you forget your devoted flower?
And go seeking other wild flowers at this hour?

Just like today, even tomorrow the sun will shine
Flowers that never bloomed will blossom in time
Bees will come,suck their sweet nectar and fly
And faded flowers will droop their heads and cry

Oh! Bee why do you desert your loving flower?
And go in search of another flower in the bower?
Oh! Bee how can you forget your devoted flower
And go seeking other wild flowers at this hour?

Love is like a dream, its living and dying is usual
Happiness, laughter balance with sorrow that's cruel
Good and bad in life like sea waves that fall to rise
In a dark desert of what use is a light of fireflies?
