Car stolen while owner prays

A Nissan Sunny car valued at Rs. 7 lakhs, reported stolen from Katugastota town on Saturday night, was found abandoned opposite the Kurunegala post office on Monday.

According to a complaint made to the police around 6.45 p.m. the owner had parked his car in Katugastota town and gone to a mosque for prayers. Within a few minutes he found his car missing. The car is now in the custody of the Katugastota Police. There have been no arrests so far.

"We have received information about the suspects but their whereabouts are not known. They will be taken into custody in a day or two," said Chief Inspector Ananda Lenawa, OIC, Katugastota Police.
