by Sarath Malalasekera

The Mirihana Police yesterday seized a Prado vehicle which was used by a leading businessman with a forged number plate.

Investigations revealed that the number which was on the Prado was the number issued to a former Uva UNP MP. Police said that the investigations had revealed that the UNP MP had no knowledge of the forged number plate.

The Government Analyst's report stated that the seized Prado vehicle had been brought to the country in complete knock down (CKD) condition and assembled here. The vehicles is valued at Rs. 8 million.

A Customs inquiry revealed that the vehicle in question had not been imported through normal channels. Prado vehicles are imported on permits issued by the Government.
