Injured Ormond withdraws from Zimbabwe tour LONDON, Sudan (Reuters) - England bowler James Ormond has been forced to withdraw from the forthcoming tour to Zimbabwe because of injury, officials said on Saturday. Ormond, who made his England debut against Australia in the fifth Ashes test last month, has tendinitis in his right knee and has been advised to rest before the tour to India in November, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) said. "This will be a big disappointment for James but we very much hope that he will be able to prove his fitness for the test match tour to India, and so be able to build on his positive England debut at the AMP Oval last month," said David Graveney, chairman of selectors. "We will make an announcement about his replacement on Monday." The 24-year-old was the surprise inclusion in England's fifth test against Australia in the Ashes series. England eventually lost the series 4-1, the only win coming in the fourth test in Headingley. England tour Zimbabwe from October 1-13 for five one-day matches. |
