RVSA leather products factory The Rana Viru Seva Authority (RVSA) will establish a leather products factory in Karuwalagaswewa on September 28 providing a solution to the unemployment problem of Rana Viru (war heroes) families. The factory will manufacture leather products needed for the Sri Lanka Army. The factory has already received orders from the Army, a RVSA spokesman told the Daily News yesterday. He said the factory has been established under the Skills Development Project implemented by the RVSA to upgrade the skills of Rana Viru families and open new avenues of employment for them. The project was introduced by the RVSA in collaboration with the Industrial Development Board. President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga provided a building belonging to the Irrigation Department at Karuwalagaswewa for the factory. The Sri Lanka Samurdhi Authority (SLSA) has undertaken to provide all the machinery and equipment. |
