A sea Tiger suicide squad has used the internationally recognised truce sign of the white flag as the cover for an abortive attack on a Dvora Attack Craft in Trincomalee around 11.50 a.m Saturday..

The crew of a Dvora, which was moving out of Trincomalee port spotted a boat drifting near Foul Point closer to Trincomalee harbour mouth. On a close observation found it was flying a white flag.

Sailors confirmed a child, around 50 years old adult and a young boy with fishing gear had been there on board.

Believing that the boat was in distress the Dvora moved closer to provide assistance when the engine of the boat suddenly started and the vessel began moving towards the Dvora at a speed.

The Naval craft immediately started moving towards a safer area with the other boat pursing it.

The Naval craft opened fire at the terrorist boat when it was getting closer to it.

The boat exploded proving that it was loaded with explosives, at a distance about 25 m from the Dvora.

A sailor sustained injuries and the Dvora was slightly damaged due to the blast.
