Enjoining order extended by Wasantha Ramanayake Colombo District Judge Ms. Rohini Walgama extended an enjoining order restraining M.L.M. Hisbullah from representing and acting as the leader of the Sri Lanka Muslim Congress (SLMC). The order also prevented U.L.M. Mohideen and other defendants from acting as office bearers of the SLMC. The order, barring defendants from calling or summoning any meeting or conference of the SLMC and\or interfering in any manner with the powers and functions of the High Command of the SLMC, was also extended. The order would be valid up to September 14. The order was a sequel to an application challenging the status of the first defendant to summon a meeting of the SLMC Politburo on August 4, by plaintiff, Dr. A.L.M. Hafrath, General Secretary of the SLMC. The Plaintiff claimed that the power to summon meetings of the SLMC High Command and Politburo, solely rests with the leader of the SLMC i.e. Rauf Hakeem, in terms of the decision taken at the Supreme Council meeting, on February 5. Plaintiff has cited M.L.M. Hisbullah, M.I. Mohideen, U.L.M. Hanifa, M.M. Abdul Kalam, U.L.M. Mohideen, Aman Ahamed Ashraff, M. Nizam Karaiapper and M.I.M. Anwer. The case was put off for October 4. |
