National Geographic Traveller lists:
Vil Uyana amongst World's Best Ecolodges
The National Geographic Traveller, has featured Vil Uyana Sigiriya in
their recent June issue of The World's Best Ecolodges.
The Vil Uyana is the only Sri Lankan resort to be listed. Launched in
2006, Jetwing Vil Uyana has been a member of 'Small Luxury Hotels of the
World' community, since its inception. With 25 dwellings situated over
four distinct habitats, water, forest, paddy and marsh originally, five
garden dwellings were added recently to cater to increasing demand.
A unique feature of the resort is the frequent appearance of a rare
primate, the grey slender loris. Vil Uyana joins other innovative lodges
from the world over, from countries such as South Africa, Greece, China,
Poland, and Indonesia. "This year marks the 125th anniversary of the
National Geographic Society. The lodges we selected capture the
Society's spirit of exploration and commitment to the environment,"
Associate Editor Amy Alipio said.
The June/July issue of National Geographic Traveller will be
available from 4 June, and an online gallery of the properties can be
