Relive your big days with Sugar Tales

No party, be it a birthday, wedding, anniversary or just a get together is complete if there is no sweet treat – such as cakes or cupcakes (which is the newest intro to stand second best to the cake). Suranjika and Shervonne, the ladies who do wonders with sugar, chatted up with us to explain how one can make a memorable sugar tale of their special day with a sweet treat of their liking.

Q: How did you both come up with the idea of starting Sugar Tales?

A: Both of us love cooking and baking.

After having made cakes and other sweets for our families, some of our friends inquired about cakes for their children and relatives.

That’s how the ball got rolling:). We realized that each of our clients had a story to tell, hence the name Sugar Tales.

Q: What are your favourite products and what is the most popular item among your customers?

A: People have different tastes. We have had orders for just plain butter-cake for themed cakes as well as a combination of flavours such as Chocolate cake sandwiched with fudge icing, roasted cashew nuts and cherries, flavoured with Kahlua.

Some clients love the taste of butter icing and even though they want fondant work done, they want the figures and decoration done on cakes covered in butter icing rather than have the entire cake covered in fondant..

Q: What are the specialties of your cakes/sweets?

A: Cupcakes with various centres such as liqueur and cherries, Rocky Road, Red velvet cupcakes and cakes, Chocolate cake with marzipan, Brownies, Burnt butter cupcakes and Mocha cakes are some of the popular orders.

Many of our clients love our basic ribbon cake and chocolate cake. Some love to have the cakes sandwiched with roasted cashew nuts, cherries, mint, Toblerone, Ferrero Roche, white chocolate shavings and marzipan.

We also use liqueurs such as Tia Maria and Kahlua and special spirits to liven it up for the adults!

Q: How about the pricing?

A: We want to make sure everyone can afford our cakes. We want to make sure that our clients can afford to tell their story through the cake. Basically, we want them to be able to have the cake and eat it.

Q: Have you’ll ever gone wrong with your recipes?

A: We like having a chat with our family members while working on our cakes and sweets.

Our children are our toughest critics especially when it comes to a theme they are familiar with and a taste they’re unfamiliar with.

Q: What has been the most memorable incident since you’ll started Sugar Tales?

A: When we started out, we were not used to working within a time frame and our initial orders took hours! So much so that we actually wondered if all the stress and fatigue were worth it! With time, we have figured out a system that best suits our busy lifestyles.

Q: Who are others who have helped you’ll on your journey?

A: We thank God for giving us this ability.

We love our families and they will always come first in our lives. We have had nothing but lots of love, support and encouragement from all of them.

It would not be possible for us to have come this far without them. So sweet tooth lovers, what are you waiting for, check them out on Facebook or call 0777-566261/0772-278878 for more information.
