Chathura Lakshan in a single handed effort helped Devapathiraja
Vidyalaya, Ratgama to score a first innings win over Kegalu Vidyalaya in
their schools Under-19 cricket tournament match concluded at the Public
grounds, Ratgama.
When Kegalu Vidyalaya batted Chathura Lakshan took 5 for 79 with his
right arm medium pacers to restrict their opponents for 194. Kegalu
Vidyalaya's innings was propped up by half centuries by Tharaka
Somatillake 58 (3 fours, 3 sixes) and Samadhi Dassanayake 57 (2 fours, 3
sixes).
When Devapathiraja Vidyalaya batted it was Chathura Lakshan who came
to their rescue with a brilliant knock of 108 which had 13 fours and 3
sixes made of 208 deliveries.
This knock held the innings together and ensured that Devapathiraja
Vidyalaya obtained first innings points.
Kegalu Vidyalaya made 159 for 8 wickets by close: Menaka Manojaya top
scored with 60.
Medium pacer Chathura Lakshan once again bowled well to capture 5 for
71 to return the fine match figures of 10 for 130 in addition to scoring
108 and if not for these three performances Devapathiraja Vidyalaya
could have fared poorly.

45 overs (Menaka Manojaya 60, Bimshendra Ranaweera 26, Pubudu
Amerasekera 13, Tharindu Somaratne 19, Samadhi Dassanayake 13, Tharaka
Somatilleke 13, Chathura Lakshan 5 for 71, Sasindu Sathsara 2 for 57).
Devapathiraja Vidyalaya 232 all out in 100.3 overs (Dilanka Rukshitha
31, Chathura Lakshan 108, Dilshan Kanchana 12, Maduranga Piyumal 25 not
