Royalists cruise to ten-wicket win
A combination of fine bowling performance by Royal College bowlers
helped them to claim an easy 10 wicket victory over Thurstan College in
their inter-schools under 19 match played at Thurstan College grounds
yesterday.
Thurstan College who were struggling at 98 for 9 overnight were
bundled out for 102 in 35.1 overs. Forced to follow on, Thurstanites
were all out for 135 in 37.2 overs. Minhaj Jaleel (43) and Kavindu
Kulasekara (21) were the top scorers for Thurstan. Lasith Embuldeniya
was the main wrecker with bowling figures of four for 32 while Devind
Pathmanathan (3 for 23) and Poorna Aluthge (3 for 40) also made things
easy for Royalists. Royal in their second innings reached the easy
target in just 4.4 for no loss.
Royal : 225 in 51.3 overs overnight and 13 for no loss in 4.4 overs
Thurstan : 102 in 35.1 overs (Kavindu Kulasekara 21, Anupa
Tillekeratne 3 for 9, Devind Pathmanathan 3 for 27, Poorna Aluthge 2 for
15) and 135 in 37.2 overs (Minhaj Jaleel 43, Kavindu Kulasekara 26,
Lasith Embuldeniya 4 for 32, Devind Pathmanathan 3 for 23, Poorna
Aluthge 3 for 40).
