Divineguma is a novel feature of the Mahinda Chinthana Idiri Dekma
programme implemented to eradicate poverty and the development between
the urban and rural areas, said Sabaragamuwa Governor W.J.M.
Lokubandara.

He was addressing a workshop attended by Ayurvedic physicians of
Kegalle and Ratnapura districts at the Kagalle SANASA Adyapana Mandapaya
on January 25.
Lokubandara said the Sabaragamuwa PC was taking steps to obtain the
contribution of Ayurvedic physicians for the successful implementation
of the Divineguma programme by setting up an Ayurvedic hospital in every
DS Division through the Ayurveda Conservation Committee.
Governor Lokubandara recalling the feats of the country's forefathers
said the giants who erected edifices like the Ruwanweliseya went to
Ayurvedic physicians for medication rather than Western doctors when
they fell ill.
The physician in the village was the second best healer who cured
illnesses next to the Viharadhipathi in the area. He said the area
around Sri Pada is a catchment area abound with medicinal plants.
The Sabaragamuwa PC had made arrangements to enable Ayurveda
physicians to promote their vocation by making use of this vital asset.
Sabaragamuwa Chief Minister Maheepala Herath said he had taken all
steps to remedy shortcomings in Ayurveda hospitals in the province.
Provincial Chief Secretary H.P. Kularatne and other officials were also
present on the occasion.
