Body found

The body of a man was found near Bolgoda Ganga, Borupana on Monday by Mount Lavinia Police. The victim with short hair appears to be between 35 and 45 years and 5' 5" in height.

The man had a tattoo of a dragon on his left hand. The body was sent to Kalubowila hospital morgue.


Two women attacked with acid

Two women in Badulla were hospitalised after acid was thrown on them by a man on Monday morning. Badulla Police identified the suspect who fled the area after attacking the women opposite a bank in Viharagoda.

The two women aged 65 and 50 are receiving treatment at Badulla hospital.


Wanted suspects arrested

A suspect who stole a gold chain worth Rs 65,000 from a woman working in a garment factory in Moratuwa was arrested by Mount Lavinia Police on Monday. The suspect, a resident of a nearby house, had pawned the chain at a bank in Katubedda.

He was produced in court yesterday.


Burglary suspects arrested

Marawila Police arrested two suspects wanted in connection with a series of burglaries in Wennappuwa, Koswatte and Pannala and seized a part of loot including two gold chains and a gold ring.

The suspects, residents of Dummaladeniya and Kumbukwewa were remanded until November 26 by Marawila magistrate.

Meanwhile, Minuwangoda Police arrested two suspects with two live grenades in their possession. The suspects were wanted by the Police in connection with several house breaking incidents.

The first suspect, a resident of Pahalagama was arrested with a locally made live grenade and Rs 264,000 and three gold chains stolen from a house in Galkanda.

The other suspect had robbed cash and jewellery at gun point from a house in Galkanda and was arrested with a locally made grenade.

Minuwangoda magistrate remanded them until November 28.


Pornographic CD shop raided

Polonnaruwa Police acting on information, raided a CD shop in Ethulampitiya and took into custody two suspects with a mobile phone and a computer containing pornographic videos.

The were produced before the Polonnaruwa magistrate yesterday.


Hermitage gutted

The hermitage of Ranwella Purana Viharasthana in Giniwella, Ahangama was gutted on Monday night.

Ahangama Police, fire brigade and the people in the vicinity doused the fire before it spread to other buildings in the temple.
