Global Symposium for Regulators

The Global Symposium for Regulators Organized by the International and Telecommunication Union, the Geneva based arm of the UN dedicated to promoting ICT access, and hosted by the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission of Sri Lanka (TRCSL), will take place in the Hilton Hotel Colombo from today to October 4.

President Mahinda Rajapaksa will preside over the opening. It will be chaired by TRCSL chairman Lalith Weeratunga.

Around 500 participants from around the world will participate in the event which has earned a reputation as the preeminent global gathering of the ICT regulatory and policy making community.

Discussions will focus on a wide range of issues, including net neutrality, spectrum policy, international roaming, cloud computing, data protection and privacy, international and regional internet interconnection, and public-private-partnerships to foster network investment.
