Lahiru in schools Under-15 team

Fourteen year old Lahiru Sudesh Perera of little known Sri Sumangala College, Kandy, was the only cricketer to be selected to the schools Under-15 team for the tour of Malaysia for the tri-nation cricket tournament which is held in Kuala Lumpur every year.

Kandy and its suburbs has a number of schools playing in the schools Under-15 cricket tournament. Some of them are big schools with a long history of cricket and with better amenities but it only Lahiru Perera who gained selection for the national Under-15 team.

Lahiru Perera is good medium pace bowler and a fine middle order batsman who scored heavily at the last year's Under-15 tournament. He also represented the Kandy District Under-15 team under Hansamal Perera and emerged inter-district champions, last year.

By being the only player to be selected for this tour from a Kandy school, Lahiru Perera stands above the rest. He is coached by former St Sylvester's College and Kandy Schools all-rounder Ranjith Colombage.
