Navy Commander visits EP

Navy Commander Vice Admiral Somathilake Dissanayake visited the
Eastern Naval Area on April 4 and 5. He was accompanied by Seniors
Officers attached to the Naval Headquarters.

Vice Admiral Somathilake Dissanayake opened the Naval Regional
Security Centre (NRSC) at Vakarei and Naval Deployments at Batticaloa
and Lankapatuna on April 4 in his two day official visit to the Eastern
Naval Area.
The SL Navy had established the new NRSC and Naval Deployments to
ensure coastal and civilian protection. On the same day the Navy
Commander opened the Junior Sailors Married Quarters complex at SLN
Dockyard in Trncomalee.
The SL Navy had constructed this quarters complex at a cost of
RS.40.1 million and it has 18 residential units.
He addressed a cross-section of Naval personnel from the Eastern
Naval Area at the Eastern Naval Command Auditorium.
He also attended the Insignia awarding ceremony of the Rapid Response
and Rescue Squadron (4Rs)which was held at the Special Boat Squadron
Headquarters in Trincomalee. The Commander awarded insignias to 102 4Rs
personnel, who had successfully completed specialized 4Rs training in
disaster relief operations of the newly established naval squadron.
The Navy Commander was accompanied by Navy Seva Vanitha Unit
Chairperson Neluka Dissanayake. They attended the Singithi New Year
Festival conducted by the Trincomalee Naval Pre-school and presented the
students with New Year gifts. |
