Death of two in crash: NTC revokes route permit of private bus

The National Transport Commission (NTC) has revoked the route permit of private bus JF-7283 which had crashed into a van killing two persons while plying from Panadura and Kandy on April 1 morning. The bus had collided head-on with the van while trying to overtake a bus.

Two people travelling in the van were killed on the spot and eight others were injured and admitted to hospital after the collision. Kegalle Police are investigating. The canceled route permit number of the private bus is 12160/PT/11.

The NTC expects to conduct a special investigation into the incident on the instructions of NTC chairman Roshan Gunawardene.

NTC sources said they will stern action against private bus drivers who violate traffic rules.
