Minister lauds Water Supply and Drainage Board workers
Water Supply and Drainage Minister Dinesh Gunawardena observed that
workers at the Ratmalana workshop of the Water Supply and Drainage Board
are dedicated in their tasks to repair equipment to the water
purification sector.
Workers are keen to utilise their full strength to accelerate work at
the workshop and prevent any delay in completing shortcomings in the
water purification sector, Minister Gunawardena noted.
The minister said there should be no delay in providing facilities to
carry out the work and that they should not wait for foreign donations
to complete the task.
The minister requested the officers to increase production and manage
the workshop properly.
The minister was on an observation tour of the Water Supply and
Drainage Board workshop in Ratmalana, on April 3.
He said that creative and efficient workers performed their duties
even without adequate facilities. Workers got the opportunity to air
their grievances to the Minister.
They said that if they had moderately good equipment they could
utilise their maximum skills to repair water purification equipment.
The minister's observations and tour of the Water Supply and Drainage
Board workshop was greatly appreciated by the workers.
The minister advised the officers in the ministry to take immediate
measures to complete all shortcomings at the site.
If they are unable to provide machinery manufactured at the site to
relevant spots, the authorities will fail to provide purified water on
time and the people would face much hardship without drinking water, the
minister said.
Water Supply and Drainage Board Acting Director Nimal Piyaratna and
General Manager A Nalin also participated in the event.
