President honours Ven Rajakeeya Witiyala Seevali Thera

Ven. Rajakeeya Pandita Witiyala Seevali Thera, Viharadhipati, Minnesota Bauddha Viharaya in USA who was appointed Deputy Chief Sanghanayake Thera of North America by the Malwatte Chapter recently was honoured and awarded a special memento by President Mahinda Rajapaksa when the Prelate met the President at Temple Trees on Thursday afternoon.

The Maha Sangha led by Ven Dr Walpola Piyananda, chief Sanghanayaka Thera of North America, Ven Ullala Chandima Thera and Ven Getamanne Gunananda Thera who also graced the occasion chanted Seth Pirith and invoked blessings on the President. Ven. Dr Walpola Piyananda Chief Sanghanayaka Thera also presented a copy of his book Thus we Heard Recollections of the Life of the Buddha to the President on this occasion.

The mother and relatives of Ven. Witiyala Seevali Thera and a group of dayaka sabha members of the Minnesota Bauddha Viharaya were also present on the occasion.
