Suspect nabbed with heroin haul
Wellawatta Police yesterday arrested a suspect
with 240 packets of heroin brown sugar worth Rs 60,000. The weight
of the haul was about 5,000 mgs. The suspect was arrested in
Menikwala junction on a tip-off, said Wellawatta Police OIC CI
Samarakoon.

Navy rescues drowning couple
Naval personnel attached to Naval Deployment
Colombo South in Wellawatte rescued a young couple who were drowning
in the sea off Bambalapitiya on May 12 evening. It is suspected that
the couple had attempted to commit suicide.
