Thirty seven houses for Bambara Kele estate workers

Twenty seven houses constructed under the Jana Sevana housing program
have been vested in those people who lived in the labourer grade houses
at Bambara Kele in the Nuwara Eliya district.
Bambara Kele labourer grade houses were built by the colonial rulers
over a 100 years ago. The Urban Settlement Development Authority has
taken steps to provide new houses for them on the instructions of
Construction, Engineering Services , Housing and Common Amenities
Minister Wimal Weerawansa.
Those houses were built at a cost of Rs 8.9 million with community
participation. Minister Weerawansa has already taken the necessary
measures to build another 33 houses in the Bambara Kele area.
Another 50 houses constructed in the Kilinochchi Divisional
Secretariat were also vested with the public.
The government has also initiated program to build 100 houses in the
Valapane Divisional Secretariat for the families of Security Forces
personnel. The Minister advised relevant authorities to complete the
construction of the housing scheme within six months.
