Blessings invoked on President and country

The Jaya Pirith Chanting with the participation of 3,000 Buddhist
monks representing all districts in the country was held at the BMICH to
invoke blessings on the President and the country for the fourth time in
succession. This pirith chanting ceremony is organized by the Defence
Ministry.
Mahanayaka of Asgiriya Chapter Most Ven Udugama Buddarakkitha Thera,
Anunayaka Thera of Malwatta Chapter Ven Niyangoda Vijithasiri Thera,
President of Amarapura Sangha Sabha and Chief Incumbent of
Dharmapalaramaya, Mount Lavinia Ven Kotugoda Dhammawasa Thera were among
the erudite monks who participated in the pirith chanting ceremony at
the BMICH.
Chief Incumbent of Kelaniya Vidyalankara Pirivena and Chief Sangha
Nayaka Thera of Colombo and Chilaw Division Ven Welamitiyawe
Kusaladhamma Thera in his Anusasana said that the country was free of
terrorism due to the dynamic leadership of President Mahinda Rajapaksa.
The Thera added that the country is treading the path of development
and the objective of the pirith chanting ceremony is to invoke blessings
on the President and all countrymen.
Thera lauded the effort of Defence Ministry Secretary Gotabhaya
Rajapaksa who took great efforts in organizing this event for the fourth
year in succession.
Anunayaka Thera of Malwatta Chapter Ven. Niyangoda Vijithasiri Thera
in an Anusasana said that President Mahinda Rajapaksa deserves credit
for eliminating terrorism in the country. President Mahinda Rajapaksa,
First Lady Shiranthi Rajapaksa, Economic Development Minister Basil
Rajapaksa, Secretary to the President Lalith Weeratunga and the Defence
Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa were among those present.
