Ministry assures solution to Embilipitiya paper factory crisis

The State Resources and Enterprise Development Ministry has requested employees attached to the Embilipitiya Paper Factory to stay calm saying the present crisis at the factory would be resolved by Wednesday.

Ministry Secretary Willie Gamage in a press release referring to the non payment of salaries for the last two months at this factory, said a special Cabinet memorandum will be presented this week to ensure job security to employees at the Embilipitiya paper factory.

As soon as the memorandum received the Cabinet nod urgent action would be taken to safeguard the jobs of employees and pay their salaries.

National Paper Corporation Chairman S Amarasinghe has tendered his resignation to pave the way for the normalisation of activities at the Embilipitiya factory.
