Tsunami rehearsals on October 13

Tsunami rehearsals will be held on October 13 in two selected villages in every coastal district to mark the International Day for Disaster Reduction which falls on the second week of October every year, Disaster Management Director General Nimal Beneragama said.

He said the first tsunami rehearsal will be held at 3pm on October 13 and the public should not panic about it.

The National Disaster Management Centre has informed the public about the exercise through the media and other means of communication.

An international conference will also be held on October 13 and 14 under the theme of 'Safety city' with the participation of local and foreign disaster management researchers.
