Junior symphony orchestra inaugural concert
The Symphony Orchestra of Sri Lanka (SOSL) is delighted to present
the Inaugural Junior Symphony Orchestra (JSO) Concert, conducted by
Ananda Dabare, the leader of the SOSL and one of its co-conductors on
July 24.
There has been a long felt need for an orchestra which would provide
training and orchestral experience for highly talented young musicians
in Sri Lanka playing orchestral instruments.
The SOSL which has had an enduring interest in nurturing and
developing young talent, commenced the JSO last year, with a view to
developing a high level Sri Lankan orchestra of young musicians and the
hope that the best of these young musicians would graduate to perform in
the SOSL. Membership of the orchestra is open to any proficient young
musician living in Sri Lanka, through a process of audition.
For the past ten months, children ranging from ages 10 to 20 years,
have been rehearsed and trained free of charge, by a dedicated and
inspiring teacher and conductor, Ananda Dabare.
They have developed their skills over this period and are now ready
to showcase their talents at this inaugural concert.
Patrons at this concert will greatly encourage the young musicians. |
