Over 80 men and women in big sea swim

Much enthusiasm and excitement prevails and the momentum
increases amongst participants and the swimming fraternity, as the days
draw nigh to the 45th Kinross Annual Six-mile sea swim that takes on the
water stretch of the Kinross Club this Sunday. It is being organized and
conducted by the Kinross Club with the active patronage of Sri Lanka
Aquatic Sports Union (SLASU) with Bank of Ceylon and Mobitel as the
sponsors of the event.
The event as attracted as much as 78 men and 7 women. The Sri Lanka
Army, Sri Lanka Navy and Sri Lanka Police have entered the maximum
number permitted that of 20.
The women are from Kinross, 2, Seenigama Aquatic Club, 2 and each
from the Army, Navy and Dharmasoka College, Ambalangoda.
Last year’s winner Lt. L.R. Peiris of the Army will have to give off
his best against the consistent, Pasindu Thamalsha of Dharmasoka
College, Ambalangoda has displayed fine form by winning 3 long distance
races conducted by the SLASU. Chalani Dharshani of Dharmasoka,
Ambalangoda who finished 2nd in the two mile (SLASU) swim on March 7,
2010 is also among 7 contending women. |
