Arms and ammunition recovered

Troops and Vavunia Police serving in Ariyalai, Adampan, Iranamadu and
Vellamullivaikkal in the Northern Province recovered a haul of weapons
hidden by the LTTE yesterday.
Military Spokesman Major General Prasad Samarasinghe told the Daily
News the haul of weapons included 48 Claymore mines, one 81 mm mortar
bomb, two Rangan 99 anti personnel mines, two Rocket Propeller Grenades
(RPG), one Arul bomb, 200 trapping charges, 144 Improvised Explosive
Devices (IED), 20kg of RDX explosives, 24 detonator codes, three
Claymore mines, 12 suicide jackets with explosives, ten suicide jackets
without explosives, 16 C- 4 chargers, 28 claymore remote controllers,
four boxes with C-4 explosives, two unidentified small machines, 570
remote control switches, 93 remote controller circuits, 12 unidentified
chargers and 18 improvised LTTE torches.
The troops found the weapons in their search operations.
Meanwhile a group of Police attached to the Vavunia Police seized
three Claymore bombs, 24 suicide kits, 20 kg of RDX detonators, 1500 g
of C-4 detonators, 134 locally made chain bombs, two body amours in
Vellamullivaikkal.
