Buddhist talk

Professor Raja de Alwis will deliver a Public Buddhist talk in English on "Managing the Straying Mind during Meditation" at a meeting of the Servants of the Buddha Society on Saturday November 15, at 4.30 p.m. at Maitri Hall, Lauries Road, Bambalapitiya.

Sarath on Sharddhanjalee

The Sinhala National Service of the Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation will present lyric composer poet and freelance journalist W.K. Sarath Wimalasiri through Shraddhanjalee Programme on November 12 from 12.00 noon to 12.45 pm.

Islamic Lecture in Tamil

An Islamic lecture organised by Dharunnadhvah Likhairiyath, an Association of Sri Lankan Muslim Men and Boys, on the topic "Hadj-a command of Allah" by As Sheik Moulana Islameel bin Muhiyaddeen, will be held on November 12 after Asar prayers at Al-Ma'hadul Bukhariyul Kadirie Thakiya (Jamiul Falah Jumma Mosque) 178, Layard's Broadway, Colombo 14.

Poya programmes

A new series of Poya Day Dhamma discussion programme will be telecast at 9.30 p.m. every Poya Day from November 12 on Rupavahini.

The moderator of this programme is Rosmund Senaratne who conducted Dhamma discussion programme on television during the past 11 years.

Ven. Madawala Upali Thera and Ven. Pathegama Sumanarathana Thera will participate.

Buddhist panel discussion

The next Buddhist public panel discussion of the Colombo YMBA will be on Sunday, November 16 at 10 am at its Borella building on 'Analysis of Sankara'. The panellists are Asoka Mahinda Jayasinghe and Dr. Basil de Silva with Rajah Kuruppu as moderator.

Sale

The annual sale of All Saint's Church, Hulftsdorp will be held on Saturday, November 15 at 4.30 pm at St. Luke's Church Parish Hall, Colombo 8.

Free pubic awareness programme

The Healthy Life Clinic is organising a large scale free public awareness programme at Committee Room C of the BMICH on November 15 from 9 am to 11 am. Free blood sugar, blood pressure and diabetes screening tests will be held.

Public lecture

Prof. Upali Vidanapathirana (Open University) will give a public lecture on 'Re-visiting Employment Trends in Sri Lanka: What? Where? How?' at 5 pm on Thursday, November 13 at the SLAAS Auditorium, 120/10, Vidya Mawatha (Off Wijerama Mawatha), Colombo 7.

Dengue prevention campaign

The Public Health Department of the Colombo Municipal Council launch a house to house mosquito-breeding site inspection on Wednesday, November 12 from the Town Hall premises to inspect all premises in the Dematagoda, Wanathamulla, Borella, Narahenpita, Cinnamon Gardens, Thimbirigasyaya, Kirula Road, Kirulapone wards. The above wards have shown to be having an increased number of dengue patients during the past few weeks. The inspections will be carried out by 500 staff members and volunteers.

Talk on Islam

The eminent scholar Ash Shaikh Mufti M.H.M. Yoosuff will deliver a talk on 'Creating an Islamic Home Environment' at 10.30 a.m. on November 12, Poya Day at the Nimal Road Jummah Masjid, situated along the Marine Drive in Bambalapitiya.

These lectures thereafter will continue every Poya Day in English mainly catering to English speaking Muslims in Sri Lanka, under the guidance of Darul Uloomil Islamiyya, which is an Institute that conducts Alim Course in English.

Carols

The L.G. Singers will begin their Christmas season with an evening of carols at Bethel Chapel of the Seventh-day Adventists, Alfred House Gardens, Kollupitiya on Friday, December 5 at 7 pm. They will be presenting 20 carols during the programme.

Siddhalepa diabetes clinic

The Siddhalepa Ayurvedic Hospital at 106A Templers Road, Mt. Lavinia will hold a special clinic for diabetes patients on November 14 from 8 am to 4 pm to mark the World Diabetes Day.

Ayurvedic Consultant specialists will be present at the clinic to answer your all medical queries. Blood testing and diagnosis will be free of charge.
