| Only thing left is suicide, says attractive mother of two : Rauff Hakeem cheated me in love An attractive mother of two ,the daughter of a former Member of Parliament appearing on the national television network Rupavahini last night, alleged that she had been cheated in a love affair with Sri Lanka Muslim Congress leader Rauff Hakeem and said that the only thing left for her to do was to commit suicide. Rupavahini showed a video footage of an attractive woman, described as Kumari Cooray, daughter of former MP Mervyn J.Cooray in which she alleged that she had an illicit love affair with Sri Lanka Muslim Congress leader Rauff Hakeem who had now jilted her. The woman in a statement telecast by Rupavahini claimed that she had taken an apartment at Mt.Lavinia to live with the SLMC leader as he complained that she was not coming to see him when he called her. " That is why I took an apartment at Mt.Lavinia, she said. Hakeem used to meet me there once or twice a week and stay with me for hours", she claimed. Kumari also claimed that she had an affair with the former Ports and Shipping Minister as he had promised to marry her. She said " I have two children. He told me to come him with the children and that he would look after me well". Kumari Cooray claimed in her statement that Rauff Hakeem had promised not to have affairs with other women after he met her. In the video footage which Rupavahini said that it had obtained from reliable sources, Kumari accused the SLMC leader of having illicit affairs with other women, and added that Rauff Hakeem was an alcoholic. She had also got used to taking drinks because of him . She said Hakeem allegedly took her to Kandy and several other places. They also used to meet at a residence in Ja-Ela. There she began to suspect him of having other affairs. Kumari claimed that she had found the Minister with another woman when she visited a residence at Flower Road, where she used to meet him. "I have lost my family and parents and all I had in life because of Rauff Hakeem "and the only thing left for me to do is to take my life." I tried to commit suicide once but my friends saved my life. But I will not live" "I do not know why he is treating me like this", said the woman allegedly cheated in love by Rauff Hakeem. Meanwhile, Minister Mangala Samaraweera and Deputy Ministers Mahindananda Aluthgamage, Lasantha Alagiyawanna and Sripathi Sooriyaarachchi yesterday totally rejected the alliegations levelled against them by the Sunday Leader of conspiring against the SLMC leader to obtain his vote in Parliament to elect the UPFA nominee as Speaker. |
