PS Opposition Leader's house fired at

The residence of Arachchikattuwa Pradeshiya Saba Opposition Leader has come under gunfire on Saturday morning injuring the elder brother of the Opposition Leader, Police said yesterday.

Opposition Leader Sanath Nishantha has been there at his residence at the time of gunfire and had given information to the Police that three armed gunmen had escaped from the scene when he was coming out of his residence.

The injured brother of the Opposition Leader has been admitted to the hospital following the incident.

Prior to the incident the Grama Sevaka of Arachchikattuwa has also been stabbed by a group of people and he has also been admitted to the Chilaw Base hospital, Police sources added.

The Deputy Inspector General of North Western Province after summoning Inspectors of 10 Police stations in Chilaw area has conducted a search operation last morning nearly 24 hours after the incident.

However, Police could not arrest any person in connection with the incident.
