'Working in unity is need of the hour'

Sigiriya group correspondent

"We don't, mind being criticized provided substantial facts are presented for such criticisms.

The PA and JVP mutterings are aimed at misleading the masses with their usual nonsense. The allegations they make that the United Front Government has so far failed to bring peace is one of such examples of their bankruptcy. The twenty year long war has made a big dent, ruining the country economically. The damage to human life is unprecedented.

The present peace process has been applauded by the International Community. The MOU is still on force. What is the meaning of these baseless statements of the PA and the JVP - even their attempt at coming to a common front ended in disaster," the Chief Minister of the Central Provincial Council Wasantha Aluvihare at a meeting of UNP Youth Organisations said.

The Chief Minister said neither the PA nor the JVP ever speaks of the harzadous task undertaken by the United Front Government to achieve peace. Their main aim is to mis-interpret and mislead the masses with irrelevant arguments. Their arguments do not correlate with one another.

Their philosophy is like a chameleon who changes according to the season and location, said the Chief Minister. This is now well-known to the public.

The need of the hour is working in unity for the common good irrespective of party politics, the Minister said. This is the most appropriate time to put this theory into practice and make our people's dream a reality.
