Chaminda wins Paragon racing event Paragon Peddlers cycling club celebrated its 46th Anniversary by holding an invitation racing cycle event on Dec. 29. which was a big success. This race was sponsored by Acto Refrigeration (Pvt) Ltd, and Dialog GSM. Fifty two Cyclists took part in this event and only 08 cyclists finished the race. It's supposed to be one of the fastest races in the recent times. The cyclists pedalled 60 rounds around the Viharamahadevi park circuit, covering a distance of 130 km. The winner Chaminda Jayalath of the SL Army Wagganers - Sports Club, clocked 03 hrs 01-38 secs; averaging a speed of 42 KMPH, while all the other competitors who finished the race had done well. The race was flagged off by the Mayor of Colombo, while the Minister of Interior was the chief guest. Cash prizes amounting to Rs. 45,000 were awarded to the winners from the 1st to the 5th placings along with trophies and certificates. A large crowd seen gathering around the Viharamahadevi park circuit to witness this event. All top cyclists in the Island, with SL Army, SL Air Force, and SL Navy teams took part which was a big attraction. Results 1. Chaminda Jayalath - SL Army Wagganors SC - 03 hrs-01 min 38 secs. 2.
