Upeksha and Kavindi Most Outstanding
Upeksha Gihan of Royal College, Colombo and Kavindi Ravihari of
Southlands College, Galle won the most outstanding players awards at the
ninth Tibhar Intermediate and Novices Table Tennis Championships
concluded last weekend at S Thomas Indoor Stadium, Mt.Lavinia.

Upeksha won the under 18 boys championship and the novices mens’
singles championship and Kavindi won the novices womens singles and the
intermediate womens’ championships to become Most Outstanding Players.
All those who emerged as champions and runner-ups were awarded
trophies. In addition, those who were qualified to enter quarter finals
and above received gift vouchers from the Tibhar sports goods’ local
agent B Withanachchi.
It has been a great encouragement for the local youngsters to receive
gift vouchers of a world renowned TT equipment brand as awards for the
first time in Sri Lanka.
Former secretary and treasurer of Table Tennis Association of Sri
Lanka, Asitha Vidanagamage was the chief guest at the award ceremony.
Vidanagamage congratulated the Tibhar Sports Club for conducting a
well organized table tennis championship for the ninth consecutive year.
He further commended the successful efforts by Tibhar Sports Club to
attract a large number of spectators to witness the finals.
With the intention of uplifting skills and standard of TT in Sri
Lanka, B. Withanachchi, the president of Tibhar Spots Club and former
National table tennis star, stated that Tibhar Sports will continue to
extend sponsorships to talented, young and deserving paddlers as done in
the past.
Tibhar Sports Club is proud about their service to the betterment of
Sri Lankan TT and is the only sports club to reward all those who enter
quarter finals and above during all tournaments from the inaugural
tournament onwards.
