Walallawita PS Chairman re-remanded

Chief Magistrate Gihan Pilapitiya yesterday re-remanded Walallawita Pradeshiya Sabha Chairman Udeni Athukorala until July 23.

He was taken into custody by the Commission to Investigate

Allegations of Bribery or Corruptions for soliciting a bribe of Rs. 2 million, and accepting Rs. 500,000.

He was arrested while allegedly accepting the balance Rs. 1.5 million.Athukorala is alleged to have accepted the sum for the issuance of a sand permit from complainant Gayan Krishantha Siriwwardena, a member of the Beliatte Pradeshiya Sabha.
