The National Institute of Library and
Information Sciences (NILIS) of the University of
Colombo was awarded the ‘SLLA Excellence Award – 2013’ at
the 53rd Annual General Meeting of the Sri Lanka Library
Association (SLLA), for outstanding services rendered in
Library and Information Science education and training in
Sri Lanka. Here, NILIS Chairman and UGC Vice Chairman, Prof.
Ranjith Senaratne and NILIS Director Upali Amarasiri receive
the award from Chief Guest Culture and Arts Ministry
Secretary Wasantha Ekanayaka. The function was held at the
SLFI auditorium. |

Motorists alone cannot be blamed for
road accidents at pedestrian crossings since pedestrians too
have the duty and responsibility to cross the road speedily
without causing traffic jams and inconvenience motorists.
