Mosquito breeding grounds at Karapitiya Teaching Hospital

Health Department officials of Galle Municipal Council detected about 10 mosquito breeding spots within the Galle Karapitiya Teaching Hospital premises, Galle Medical officer of Health Dr. Venura Singharachchi said. The mosquito breeding places were found near the hospital’s Intensive Care Unit, children’s wards and the mortuary among others.


Founder's Day celebrations

The All Ceylon Women's Buddhist Congress will celebrate its Founders Day on Friday, July 12 at its Headquarters at 400 Bauddhaloka Mawatha, Colombo 7.

The Congress will honour the Founding Mothers who established Sri Lanka's premier Buddhist women's organization in 1949 by a few far-sighted pioneers led by B. S. Jayawardena.

The Annual All Night Pirith Ceremony will be held on this day in honour of the founders. All are welcome.


Elected Lions Club president of Mahabage

Lion Senadhisa Chandrasekara has been elected President of Lions Club of Mahabage PIP Mahendra Amarasuriya at the club installation meeting held recently.

Chandrasekara is an old boy of Isipathana Maha Vidyalaya, Colombo 5 and showed a keen interest in social service activities. He was the Secretary of the Sinhala Literary Association and the President of Youth Service Association sponsored under the patronage of Lions Club of Bambalapitiya which was involved in implementing youth activities programme.

He completed his Post Graduate Diploma in Marketing at “Sri Lanka Institute of Marketing” and also is a member of SLIM. He has also obtained “Practicing Marketer Status” from Sri Lanka Institute of Marketing recently.

He is currently reading for his Master of Business Administration (MBA).


Josephians Sing-Along

The Past Pupils of St Joseph’s Convent, Kegalle will Sing-Along with Rajiv and the Clan and Mariazelle on July 13 at the Sri Lanka Foundation Institute, 100, Independence Square, Colombo 7 from 7 pm onwards.

In a benevolent gesture, the PPA of St Joseph’s Convent, Kegalle, Colombo branch organizes an annual event in aid of charity.
