Nearly 1,000 permanent houses would be set up for the shanty dwellers
in the Hambantota District by the SDA on the initiative of MP, Namal
Rajapaksa.
The shanty dwellers would be selected without political, caste, creed
or racial difference, SDA Chairman Ranjith Gunasekera said. He said that
it was necessary that a recipient of a house must possess a plot of land
of his own. Each shanty dweller would be provided with a grant of
Rs.150,000.
The assistance of recipients should be obtained in the construction
work of houses, the Chairman said. |
