ACPBPA denounces planned private bus strike

The All Ceylon Private Bus Passengers Association (ACPBPA) denouncing the private bus strike planned for tomorrow by the All Ceylon Private Bus Owners Association (ACPBOA) states that the strike is a total violation of the basic rights of passengers.

A ACPBPA press release further states when Private Transport Minister C.B. Rathnayaka reiterated through the media that all possible steps have been taken to remedy the issues of bus fares, it is very unfair to go for a strike at this juncture .

“We are fully aware that the Government needs some time to put the decisions into practice even at a time when President Mahinda

Rajapaksa had also issued direct instructions to redress the grievances of private bus owners.

“We condemn the decision taken by bus unions’ who are trying to hold the innocent passengers to ransom, ‘the release added.
