Rear Admiral Jayantha Perera appointed Navy Chief of Staff

President Mahinda Rajapaksa appointed Rear Admiral Jayantha Perera as the Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Navy.

Rear Admiral Perera joined the Sri Lanka Navy on August 23, 1978.

Rear Admiral holds the appointment of Director General Operations.

He held the appointments of Commander Western Naval Area and Commander Southern Naval Area and was the Deputy Area Commander Eastern Naval Area during the Humanitarian Operation.

He has also held many staff appointments, which include Flag Officer Commanding Naval Fleet, Director Naval Operations and Special Force, Director Naval Weapon, Deputy Director Naval Intelligence, Deputy Director Naval Training, Media Spokesman of the Sri Lanka Navy and Principal Staff Officer to the Chief of Defence Staff.
