Incorporating another 53 recommendations of LLRC to National Action Plan:

President’s proposal gets Cabinet nod

The Cabinet yesterday approved a proposal made by President Mahinda Rajapaksa to incorporate another 53 recommendations of the Lessons Learnt and Reconciliation Committee (LLRC) to the National Action Plan. Addressing the Cabinet press briefing at the ministry auditorium yesterday, Mass Media and Information Minister Keheliya Rambukwella said these recommendations would be incorporated into long term and medium term strategies.

He said the newly incorporated recommendations relate to various spheres including international humanitarian legal issues, human rights, internally displaced people, detainees, issues with regard to the Muslim community in the North and East etc.

The minister said the National Action Plan was initially formulated by the government to implement 91 recommendations of the LLRC through 22 government agencies.
