Electricity projects in Nigeria:
'Lankan investors have many investment opportunities'

Lankan investors have a number of opportunities in investing both on
large scale and medium scale electricity projects in Nigeria, Nigerian
Ambassador in Sri Lanka Femi Akeion Rotimi said when he met Power and
Energy Minister Pavithra Wanniarachchi yesterday at the Power and Energy
Ministry. They discussed matters pertaining to the investment
opportunities in Nigerian electricity sector.

The Nigerian Ambassador said any type of Sri Lankan investor can
invest in the Nigerian power sector and they can become contributors to
the power generation in Nigeria.
According to Femi the technology which have used in the small scale
hydro power generation projects in Sri Lanka is very effective and he
paid his willingness to exchange the technical knowledge between Sri
Lanka and Nigeria on behalf of the Nigerian government.
"There are a large number of reservoirs in Nigeria and Sri Lankan
investors can use them for large scale or medium scale power generating
projects. Investing in Nigeria will be a great opportunity for Sri
Lankan investors and it will be another support to strengthen the
diplomatic relations between the two countries," he further explained.
Minister Wanniarachchi explained the current situation of the country
and the progress in the development process going on in the island under
the leadership of President Mahinda Rajapaksa. She also explained the
present situation of electricity sector in Sri Lanka. She said that
government is attempting to supply electricity for all by the end of
next year. |
