International Conference of Asian Political Parties here next year
President Mahinda Rajapaksa accepted an invitation from the
Secretary-General of the International Conference of Asian Political
Parties (ICAPP) to host a high-level meeting in Sri Lanka in 2014.
This decision was made when Secretary-General Chung Eui-yong met
President Rajapaksa at Temple Trees yesterday.
Eui-yong said other ICAPP members were “very enthusiastic” about the
possibility of Sri Lanka hosting the next conference, which is expected
to attract more than 100 different political parties from around Asia.
“Sri Lanka is very strategically located for such a meeting,”
Eui-yong said.
President Rajapaksa addressed a special conference of ICAPP in
Shaanxi Province during his state visit to China in May this year under
the theme ‘Promote Green Development and Build a Beautiful Asia
Together.’
Ambassador of the Republic of Korea in Sri Lanka Jongmoon Choi and
Secretary to the President Lalith Weeratunga were also present at the
meeting. |
